Here's the uncomfortable math: a year of cling film is maybe 400 grams of LDPE — about 1 kg CO2e. A three-pack of waxed cotton wraps embodies nearly that much before first use, thanks to cotton cultivation. The wraps roughly tie on carbon, win clearly on plastic waste, and lose on land and water. The stakes, either way, are measured in grams.

Cleanliness: Significant

Cold wash, air dry, re-wax when it stops sticking. Keep it away from raw meat — that job stays with film or a sealed container.
